Mom made Dill leaves Pie or Shoupa Pana poli - Bhatkally recipe

Assalamu alaikum readers,

After my previous recipe Cupsa of  Arabic cuisine which was an easy recipe. Here's my next recipe which is Bhatkally recipe known as Shoupa Pana poli in Bhatkal and in English you can call it as Dill Leaves Pie. These herbs  are as usually nutritious and healthy for our body

This recipe though a little difficult and time consuming but it's worth the end result. The main ingredients used for this recipe are coconut milk, rice, eggs and of-course Dill Leaves. For the nutrition facts you can find it here.

Lets see what ingredients are needed and what steps are used.

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup - Basmati Rice (soaked 4-5 hrs)
2. 500 gms coconut powder (atleast 2-3 glass of water)or 3 tins coconut milk
3. 1 bundle of Dill leaves or shepu or suva (photo of dill leaves shown above)
4. 1 -2 cups Sugar
5. 14 Eggs
6. 2-3 tbspn ghee

Step by Step Instructions:

1. Soak the rice at-least for 4-5 hrs before grinding in the mixer or till it gets to be a fine paste.

2. Remove the stems from the dill leaves and grind it as finely as possible with water. Then strain it as shown in the picture

3. Beat the eggs in a vessel, add the coconut milk which is prepared before it self or use the coconut powder or the coconut milk tins If interested in buying the coconut milk tin from Amazon then click here and then add the strained dill leaves mixture to it, hand whisk the batter

4. Keep the mixture on medium heat, keep stirring it and cook till it thickens and be careful that it does not touch the bottom.

 5. Take a pan and grease it with ghee or butter and add the Dill leaves mixture in to it as shown in the picture

6.I had preheated the oven at 180 degree for 10 mins. Keep the pan in the oven which was preheated, with the timer set at 50 minutes. The result after the pie is baked is below.

7.  SERVE the pie with small sized pieces when it is cooled. Taste Yummier when refrigerated.

Note: Make it for parties and functions 2 to 3 days before and serve it on the day of party. Once it is baked keep it aside to cool and refrigerate it for later purpose
